The Scoop. This month, Rice Village unveiled its new installation on the corners of University Boulevard and Kelvin Drive next to Bluemercury. The installation was created to resemble the Rice University owl.
But Who Made It and How Did It Get There? Nathan Mabry, a west coast artist, spent 18 months curating the owl along with the 4 owls that surround the main piece.
That’s So Cool! What Else? The aluminum sculpture represents surrealism within the smaller owls, and abstract art with the large bird. Hints of deep blue and monochromatic metals unite the spirit of Rice University and the State of Texas.
