(W)HOOT: The talon-ted metal sculptor, Nathan Mabry, has made his way from the west coast to Rice Village District to unveil his newest piece. Mabry fell in love with the vibrant history and neighborhood of Rice University and was fascinated with the Rice University Mascot, the owl, inspiring his newest work of art.
WHAT: Rice Village is branching out with the first Mabry piece in Houston. The aluminum sculpture embodies four lifelike owls, each of which come to rest on the large origami abstract bird. The smaller owl reflects surrealism and the exposure to outdoor elements upon the abstract owl. Hints of deep blue and monochromatic metals unite the spirit of Rice University and the State of Texas.
