Since 1938, Rice Village has been one of the most beloved retail and mixed-use districts in the city of Houston.
In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Rice Village “filled up and prospered” but the suburban economic boom in greater Houston in the 1970’s caused development to go elsewhere. The influx of young families in Southgate, Southampton, and West University Place in the 1980’s started Rice Village’s suburban revival.
The first minutes of the 1994 film “The Chase” were filmed in Rice Village.

Rice Village is the only authentic urban district in Houston and our goal is to offer visitors and the local community a best in class shopping, dining and unique customer experience.
